Director Ram Gopal Verma's latest venture 'Rann' will hit the silver screens across the country today.

Amitabh Bachchan starrer Rann is based on 'Fourth Pillar' media. RGV has brilliantly converted the TRP race, manufacturing sensational news and use of media by dirty politician for their personal mileage on celluloid.

Definitely, after few flops, Ramu came with a big bash. This is Ramu's best work since "Company". RGV has revealed the dirty game of TRP among electronic channels. He also tried to display the business of media through Rann and he is quite success in his motive. "Rann" defines the role of the electronic media in today's context with remarkable virility and dramatic force.

As usual, After Sarkar, Sarkar Raj, Aag, Big B is centre stage of RGV’s Rann. Once again he is excellent.

The story begins with Amitabh Bachchan, who plays Vijay Harshwardhan Malik in the movie. Vijay Harshwardhan Malik runs a private news channel India 24X7. He is hardcore journalist, who never compromise with media ethics for TRP race.

But despite being true and fair, Malik's news channel India 24X7's TRP has been dropped dramatically to Mohnish Behl's news channel. Actually, Television tycoon Mohnish Behl is expert in selling the story as entertainment. He modified news story to make it sensational. His news channel is not more than a brothel.

After continuous loss in business, Big B's US educated son Jai Malik (Sudeep) joins his business. Jay believes media or any business should be done for profit only.

Actually, the moral battle lines in the media-run tale of "Rann" are drawn between the idealistic patriarch and his US-returned hyper-ventilating son Jai, who is so anxious and ambitious, you know he will eventually cause trouble for his ideologue dad's news-worthiness.

On the other hand, Paresh Rawal (Mohan Pandey) is representing dirty and muscleman politician in the film. He launches media campaign for his dream to become Prime Minister.

In this series, Rajat Kapoor, son-in law of Big B, is a industrialist. He wants to be top most industrialists. He knows, Mohan Pandey will help him if he becomes the Prime Minister.

The dirty game of electronic media begins against Vijay Harshwardhan Malik. Son Jai, Mohnish Behl, Mohan Pandey, Rajat Kapoor conspire against Malik to tarnish his image.

It's the last quarter of the narrative where Harshwardhan, after realising he has been taken for a ride by his own son's over-ambitiousness, that packs in the maximum punch.

However, Ritesh Desh Mukh (Purab Shashtri) is true journalist and follows his mentor Malik. He wants to bring the truth before people through reporting.

Ramu has brilliantly balanced the too many characters. He used anaemic light to unearth the fading shine of Electronic Media.

Cleverly borrowing the premise for its climax from Mehboob Khan's "Mother India", "Rann" moves aggressively but confidently into its passionate finale where the patriarchal television tycoon must expose some harsh home-truths to cleanse his own conscience.

There are some light moments in the movie as well. Rajpal Yadav, editing head, makes you feel easy. Rajpal and Gul Panag conversation will make laugh in the serious movie.

All credit should go to Ram Gopal Verma for raising good issues. As usual, Big B is best with his role. But it is Sudeep (Phoonk fame actor) who will surprise everybody with his performance. Ritesh looks good in a serious role. Paresh Rawal is also superb as Mohan Pandey.

In one word RGV's terrible truth is worth watching.
