Pinarayi slams Achuthanandan

Kochi: CPI(M) Kerala Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, whom the CBI has sought to arraign as accused in SNC Lavalin graft case, on Sunday said the battle being waged against corruption by his senior party colleague and Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan was not a one man fight.

Talking to reporters here, Vijayan said, "VS is not a one man army against corruption. He is a product of the party. The so called war against corruption was actually thought of and decided by the party. Achuthanandan was only implementing the party's directions." Vijayan's reply was in response to a question on Achuthanandan's statement that he would continue his fight against corruption.

Asked if Achutanandan would join the 'Nava Kerala March', being led by him, he said, "Party General Secretary Prakash Karat has already responded to that question. I do not want to add anything more. The Polit Bureau's decisions on Saturday were not favouring or against anyone." On Karat's statement that if Vijayan had been a minister, MLA or MP, the party would have asked him to resign, Vijayan declined comment.
