    Youths in politics: 79 youth MPs reach 15th Lok Sabha





    New Delhi: From Silicon valley to management planet youths dominates everywhere in 21st century. However, their presence in politics was meager in Indian politics. But the general elections 2009 have tremendously changed the panorama as 79 youths have been elected for the 15th Lok Sabha. This indicates that youths' charisma has worked during the `09 election.

    Youth brigade of MPs are all set to rule the roost in the Lok Sabha. Some of them have retained their seats while others have reached the parliament first time.

    In the 14 th Lok Sabha, there were only 34 youth MPs below 40-year age mark. For the second Lok Sabha 151 youth MPs were elected. After a long interval, 7th Lok Sabha boasted of having 114 youth MPs. At least 78 youths were elected for the 13th Lok Sabha when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was Pime Minister.

    Youth brigade MPs are extremely happy over party's decision to bring forward the youths. They expressed gratitude to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi who promoted youths and fielded them.

    Sachin Pilot, who has secured victory from Azmer, said, “I thank people for electing youths. And the credit goes to Congress Party for bringing youths in front row of politics. I express gratitude towards Sonia Ji for it.”

    Youth MPs are of the opinion that if such experiments go on, youths will join politics as a career.
