Work begins on Rs 100-Crore 'Konark Knowledge Park'





Hyderabad: Work on the Rs 100-crore 'Konark Knowledge Park,' the first public-private partnership (PPP) project conceived under a development partnership between the Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech International (BBI) manufacturer of vaccines and biotherapeutics products and the Government of Orissa began today.

The project aims to boost investments in the areas of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals in Orissa, a BBI release said here.

Speaking on the occasion Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that his government is keen to develop Mouza -Andharua, Bhubaneswar as a major Biotech, IT and Pharma hub in Orissa. The PPP project with Bharat Biotech International demonstrates the Government's vision to successfully collaborate with private sector not only to create world class infrastructure but also to create new avenues for jobs and increase investments in the state's local economy.

Chairman and Managing Director BBI Dr Krishna Ella said that when completed, the infrastructure will create world-class, state-of-the art research and development enterprises in an exceptional environment designed to foster novel approaches to healthcare and its delivery, the release added.
