Vigilance cases against two Jharkhand ministers

Ranchi, Nov 24: A court today directed the vigilance police to file FIR against Jharkhand ministers Hari Narain Rai and Enos Ekka for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

The direction by Special Vigilance judge, A K Singh, came after a resident of Deogarh district Kumar Vinod lodged a complaint on October 25, 2008 accusing the two ministers of amassing assets running into crores of rupees between April, 2005 till date in Ranchi, Deogarh and Dumka.

The complaint was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Ekka is Rural Development minister and Rai Urban Development and Tourism in the Shibu Soren overnment.

The comlainant alleged that Rai and Ekka, both independant MLAs, had earned hundred times more than what they had submitted in their affidavits to the Election Commission before the 2005 assembly elections.

Advocates Manoj Kumar Chowbey, Manish Mishra, Vishal Trivedi and Rajiv Ranjan represented Vinod while Assistant Public Prosecutor Rajesh Kumar was present from the government side
