Lucknow: Samajwadi Party today announced the name of five candidates for upcoming assembly bypolls in the state. The decision was taken during the parliamentary board meeting of the party.

Addressing a press conference here, SP State President Akhilesh Yadav said that party has finalised the names of five candidates for the upcoming by-elections.

Manibhadra Singh (Isauli), Reena Chaudhary (Malihabad), Shakuntala Devi (Shajahanpur), Babulal Pramukh (Chandauli) and Shakir Ali (Kushinagar).

He said that candidates have been asked to gear up for the elections.

He further added that party will observe July 3, 2009 as ‘Mourn Day' in the protest of Chief Minister Mayawati's statue inauguration ceremony.

He also demanded special session of assembly in the wake of tottering situation of water and power supply in the state.
