New Delhi, Dec 21: Business process outsourcing and telecom services across the country are likely to see disruptions in terms of slower Internet access and call drops, respectively, as two major undersea cables have broken down.

However, the individual Net users would not be affected.

Internet Services Providers Association of India President Rajesh Chharia told newsmen that two underseas cables -- SEA-ME-WE-4 SEA-ME-WE-3 -- broke down on Friday evening.

The work on the two broken cables is going on and one of the cable them -- SEA-ME-WE-4 is likely to be restored by December 26, he said, adding that the situation will improve thereafter.

These two cables carry Indian BPOs' connectivity to the Middle East, European countries and east cost of the US. Since the last two days of week were holidays, the slower connectivity was not felt that much. But the breakdown will affect the connectivity from tomorrow when traffic picks up.

The calls coming from and going to these countries are likely to experience more call drops and blank call.

However, individual Net users will not be affected, Chharia said.
