Ahmedabad, Sep 2 Three persons, including a teenager, died tonight after drinking methyl-based chemical solvent, police said.

The trio, Noor Mohammad (30), Kamlesh Vaghela (17) and Jayanti Sitapuri (37), died in V S hospital here while undergoing treatment.

While Mohammad was admitted to the hospital on August 28, the two others were brought to the government-run medical facility this morning, they said.

They had consumed the solvent thinking it was country made liquor, police said.

On August 28, three persons had died after drinking spurious substance which they thought was country made liquor.

Police said investigations were on to find the source of the spurious substance.

The six deaths come weeks after 130 people had lost their lives in hooch tragedy in Gujarat, where prohibition is in place for decades.
