Director producer Ram Gopal Verma (RGV) is ready with his latest venture Rann-starring Amitabh Bachchan in a pivotal role.

The story of Rann is based on media and its influence. The fil displays the present picture of media and its attempt to sensationalisation of news for business purpose. The Rann displays the business of media for financial goal instead of social responsibility.

The Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachcha is once again crucial character on celluloid. The Big B plays character of Harshvardhan Malik, who is the founder of India’s first private news Channel India24X7.

Harshvardhan Malik is a Harvard-educated journalist, who gives values to media ethics. Ritesh Deshmukh is also playing a important role. Ritsh Deshmukh as Purab Shahstri is a true journalist. He thinks that news should be reported in actual manner rather than manufacturing the news.

Actor Sudeep, who worked in Ranu's Phoonk, has been playing son of Malik. Jay Malik is highly ambitious and sees his dad's news channel as just for gaining profit. Jay believes that a business enterprise should justify its existence.

Manisha Koirala is also making comeback to RGV's camp after Company in 2006. Manisha plays Nalini Kashyap. She is Programming head of News Channel India 24/7. She has a vast experience in this field.

Paresh Rawal (Mohan Pandey) has played crucial role in the movie. Paresh Rawal is a Indian Politician, who has a high desire of becoming Prime Minister. As a leader of Opposition, Mohan Pandey can kill anybody to grab the country’s top chair. Mohan Pandey displays the tainted politician of India.

Gul Panag plays Nandita Sharma in the movie. She is assistant of a ad filmmaker. She has a desire to make her own film. She is in live-in relationship with Purab Shashtri. She is independent and just thinks about herself. Actually she is representing youth of Today’s India.

Apart from these, Mohnish Behl as Amrish Kakkar. Amrish Behl is also an owner of news channel. He knows how to present news for business purpose. His channel is not less than a porno channel.

Rajat Kapoor as Naveen Shankalya, plays the role of Amitabh's father-in-law. He is an industrialist and friend of Mohan Pandey. He thinks that his wish to become top industrialist can be fulfilled if Mohan Pandey becomes Prime Minister.

Raima Sen is playing Yasmin Hussain, a love interest of Jay Malik (Sudeep). Rajpal Yadav will be seen as a Anand Prakash Trivedi, a creative editor in the movie.

The total theme of the story is based on Media, politics and manufacturing of news. RGV has once again attempted to raise the important topic. However, the full details regarding Rann review will be published after its release.

With the story plot and its actor, it seems that the drought of hit films at Ramu camp is likely to be end with the success of Rann.
