New Delhi: As the entire world is geared up to watch the longest solar eclipse of the millennium, the superstitions regarding ill-effect of eclipse galore in India. The scientists have urged the people to don't miss this life time opportunity to watch celestial spectacle on January 15, 2010.

The experts have said that after taking some precautions during Solar eclipse, we can enjoy the every moment of 'Ring of Fire'.

The solar eclipse should be watched the supervision of experts and with proper gadgets. It could be harmful for your retina if you watch it with naked eyes.

You can watch the solar eclipse through telescope or binoculars with use of proper filter. If you don't have telescope or binoculars you can use projection method to watch the celestial sight.

"It is very important to emphasise that viewing the eclipse with the naked eye would be very dangerous. Viewing the sun through a telescope or a binoculars without a proper filter is many times more dangerous - it could destroy your eyesight," a expert said.

According to the experts, the safest way of viewing a total solar eclipse is through the method of projection.

A pair of binoculars can be used along with a long hardboard box to obtain good projected views of the sun for safe solar viewing.

"By projection method, a pinhole or small opening is used to cast the image of the sun on a screen placed a half-metre or more beyond the opening."

If you don't have access to a telescope or binoculars, there is an easy method of using a kitchen sieve with small perforations.

Hold the sieve just above the ground, tilting its face towards the sun. Moving the sieve a little away from the ground, one can see an image of the sun forming, which will show the eclipse when it occurs.

The experts also warned people to use sunglasses, colour film, black-and-white or photographic negatives or X-ray film to watch the solar eclipse.
