Jaipur: One person was killed and two others were injured as people of different castes clashed over poll related issues in Baran district.

Ramesh Gadri was killed after polling in sarpanch elections at Kadainor village last night. The injured were admitted to a government hospital in Kota, SP (Baran) Omprakash told.

As per a complaint lodged by people of Gurjar community, some members of Dhakar caste attacked them.

Both groups used sharp edged weapons and lathis against each other. One of them was brought dead to a hospital, while two others were shifted to Kota, the SP said.

Nine persons were arrested in this connection. Normalcy was restored this morning after deployment of additional force in the affected area, the SP said.

There was tension after the Sarpanch seat was allotted to an SC candidate.
