Naveen optimistic of peaceful industrialisation in OrissaTags: Bhubaneswar Bhubaneswar, Sep 19 Optimistic of "peaceful industrialisation" in Orissa, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said issues relating to land acquisition for setting up major projects would be resolved soon.
"I am optimistic of a peaceful industrial revolution in the state," Patnaik told reporters as mega projects in the state have failed to make any headway due to land acquisition problems. Stating that ArcelorMittal, Posco, Tata Steel and other mega projects would come up in the state, the chief minister said that the required land for respective projects would be acquired in a peaceful manner. Of the 13 mega projects with proposal of Rs 2,00,653.80 crore investment in the state, only four have progressed well while others including Posco-India's Rs 51,000 crore project, ArcelorMittal's Rs 40,000 crore plan and Tata Steel's Rs 18,700 crore project, made tardy progress. Reason of delay in implementation of the projects was mostly attributed to non-availability of land in the face of law and order problems. While Posco-India required 4004 acre of land for setting up its 12-mtpa steel mill near Paradip and ArcelorMittal wanted 8,000 acre of land for an equal capacity greenfield project, none could acquire land so far. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Share it
