Aizawl, Aug 28 The Mizoram Primary Teachers' Association (MPTA) today said mid-day meal in primary schools in the state would be discontinued from September one unless the government took steps to solve their problems.

In a statement here, the MPTA said the government was yet to provide fund for purchase of food items and wages of the cooks since May creating problems for the teachers.

Riachho, was quoted as saying that the problem arose as the Centre was yet to release the fund meant for wages of school cooks and food items like vegetables.

"We are trying to use the department fund, earmarked for other purposes, to tide over the current problem," Riachho said.
