Mani Ratnam hospitalized due to heart attackTags: Bollywood , Mani Ratnam Published by: Diksha Gupta Published: Wed, 15 Apr 2009 at 13:58 IST Chennai: Noted film director Mani Ratnam who was hospitalised following breathing difficulty and dizziness, got a heart attack Wednesday afternoon.
He was admitted to the hospital here last night after he complained of "breathing difficulty" and discomfort in the chest and specialists, including cardiologists, were attending on him, hospital and family sources said. The 52-year-old director, who introduced Oscar winning musician A R Rahman in ‘Roja', had survived a heart attack in 2004 when he was filming the multi-starrer, bi-lingual ‘Yuva'. Ratnam is currently involved in a project starring national award winner Vikram, Abhishek Bacchhan and Aishwarya Rai, among others, tentatively titled ‘Ravan.' Director of ‘Guru,' Mani Ratnam is known for taking up controversial issues like the Bombay riots in ‘Bombay' and terrorism-related subjects in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Dil Se', ‘Roja' and ‘Kannathil Muthamittal.' Mani is credited to revolutionize Tamil-language cinema. Mani Ratnam is the biggest director in south India and one of the most respected directors in all of India. Each of his films contain its own unique style, with beautifully photographed songs and unique back-lighting. However, his films contain substance as well as style.
