Lucknow: A man having suspected links with terrorist outfits, including the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI), has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly district, police said on Thursday.

Chand Mohammad, 40, was arrested Wednesday night in the Karamchari Nagar area in Bareilly, some 250 km from Lucknow.

"A pistol, several cartridges and an improvised explosive device (IED) have been recovered from Mohammad's possession," an official of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) told.

"Pamphlets containing praises for Osama Bin Laden and calling for war against anti-Islamic governments were also seized from Mohammad, who is a resident of the Premnagar area in Bareilly," he said.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police (Bareilly Range) N.K. Srivastava confirmed the arrest of a man allegedly linked to HuJI.

"He is being interrogated. We will provide all the information to the media once we complete the investigations," Srivastava told.
