Malegaon case: Pragya Thakur to be hospitalised for backacheTags: Mumbai Mumbai, June 3 : Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, prime accused in the September 2008 Malegaon blast case, will be shifted to J J Hospital for treatment of her backache following a direction by a special court here today.
Hearing Thakur's plea, the court directed the jail authorities to admit her to the government hospital in south Mumbai. Thakur's lawyer Ganesh Sovani filed an application before additional sessions judge M R Puranik stating she was suffering from severe backache for the past few weeks and needed urgent treatment. Sovani also furnished a report of the medical officer of the Byculla Women's jail stating that Thakur's backache is due to a problem in her spinal chord which needs to be treated at a hospital immediately. "Based on the report, the court directed the jail authorities to shift sadhvi to J J hospital for treatment," Sovani said. Earlier also, Thakur had been admitted to the hospital after she complained of a stomach disorder due to "unhygienic" food served in the jail. "A few months ago, sadhvi had undergone treatment for indigestion and stomach disorder due to lack of proper nutrition in the jail," Sovani said. Thakur and 10 others including Lt Col S P Purohit have been arrested by the state Anti Terrorism Squad for their involvement in the Malegaon blast. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Share it
