Rourkela, Aug 21 A total of 278 cases, including several old land disputes, were settled at a Lok Adalat held at Kuanrmunda, 35 km from here yesterday.

Rs.11.85 lakh was collected as fine in the Lok Adalat.

The Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of Additional District Session Judge Sarat Chandra Mohapatra in which senior Civil Judge, Loknath Mohapatra, SDJM, Niranjan Panda, Civil Judge Dipti Ranjan Kanungo and senior judge Gyan Kumar Barik settled the cases.

One hundred and sisty-seven criminal cases with collection of fine amount of Rs 73,950, 69 revenue cases with a fine of Rs 10.46 lakh and 42 civil cases and land disputes with a collection of Rs 65.392 were settled in the adalat, official sources said.
