Bhind (MP): A student kidnapped a fortnight ago from here has been rescued from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh and four people were arrested in this connection in a joint operation by police of the two states.

Sumer Singh, of Tura village in this district, was kidnapped while he, along with his brother, was going on a bicycle to a school in Ron locality on July 28, Inspector General of Police (Chambal range) Sanjay Kumar Jha today told reporters here.

The 15-year-old was bundled into a van bear a temple by four persons. Jha said the police got information that the kidnappers had taken Sumer to UP via Tekhagur area.

Following this, Additional Superintendent of Police Sidharath Choudhary, with a team, reached Uttar Pradesh and sought the help of UP Special Task Force.

During a checking, a van on Fathehabad-Firozabad was intercepted and four persons were arrested who admitted to the kidnapping, the IG said.

After grilling the accused, the police reached Shankergarh in Agra district where some people were keeping Sumer as hostage, Jha said.

These people fired at police and when they retaliated, the accused fled the scene leaving behind Sumer who was rescued last night at around 11, he said.
