Ahmedabad: A Frankfurt-bound Air India flight with 89 passengers on board was grounded for around five hours at city's international airport today following a hoax call claiming the presence of a bomb on board, airport authorities said.

The flight was allowed to leave after a search that lasted for nearly five hours, they said.

Air India flight AI 191 was shifted to an isolation bay after police control room transfered the information about the presence of explosives in the flight this morning, they said.

The threat call was received by the police control room who subsequently alerted the airport authorities.

The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), along with sniffer dogs, thoroughly checked the plane and passengers' baggage but nothing suspicious was found, they said.
