Muzaffarnagar, May 21 : A community panchayat has penalised members of two families for ignoring its order in connection with a fourth time marriage at a village in the district.

A community panchayat was convened yesterday after Salim of Umarpur village marrried for the fourth time, ignoring the ban on any further marriage.

Salim Qureshi had married thrice previously and divorced them. The panchayat took a serious view of this and debarred him from marrying another time.

The panchayat also ordered a social boycott of the bride and the groom's families and has also prohibited the burial of their bodies in the community graveyard.
