Jamshedpur, Aug 24 An FIR was lodged against 11 persons in Jharkhand on charges of misappropriation of fund meant for Centre-sponsored National Rural Employment Guarantee schemes in East Singhbhum district.

The FIR was lodged following a probe conducted by a committee headed by Sub-Divisional Officer, Dalbhum, Potka BDO Ram Karan Ram said today.

Ram who had taken over the charge from his predecessor Bipin Oraon in March last said the accused included Oraon, three junior engineers, two assistant engineers, panchayat sevaks and a middle-man.

The accused allegedly withdrew Rs 21.54 lakh meant for 12 projects including construction of grade-1 road in Kowali Panchayat of Potka block, Ram said.

No work was carried out by the accused persons but the amount was withdrawn, the BDO said.

An enquiry into the incident was immedately ordered when the matter was brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissoner of the district, Ravindra Agarwal recently, he said.
