The doctor couple arrested last month, after their son allegedly performed a caesarian section at the family-run clinic at Manaparai, was granted conditional bail by a local court.

Principal and District and Sessions Judge S. Thangakani, while granting bail, asked Murugesan and Gandhimathi to stay at Manaparai and sign at the local Judicial Magistrate Court for 10 days.

The Judge said that the doctors were running a clinic at Manaparai and there was no likelihood of their tampering with the records or influencing witnesses.

The couple was arrested on June 25 for allegedly asking their minor son Dhileepan Raj to perform the surgical procedure and then "revealing" their son's feat at a meeting of the Indian Medical Association.
