CPI-M approves rectification plans for cadres and leadersTags: New Delhi New Delhi, Oct.25 The CPI-M today approved a plan to initiate a campaign among its leaders and cadres to rectify "wrong trends and shortcomings" blamed for its poor showing in the May Lok Sabha elections.
The 'rectification' document approved at the party's Central Committee at a three-day meeting would be implemented at all levels of the party from next month and the first phase would be over by June 2010, CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat told reporters here. An austerity drive is also understood to be part of the campaign. The process of the rectification campaign at the political, ideological and organisational level is to remove the wrong trends and shortcomings so that the Party emerges more unified and strengthened, the party said. The latest document in which guidelines for conducting the rectification campaign have been set out has updated the report of a previous such campaign in 1996 and is based on the experience of the Party in the last twelve years. The document has prepared guidelines for strengthening democratic centralism as the organisational principle of the Party, ensuring proper integration of parliamentary and extra-parliamentary work, maintenance of communist norms and values and remoulding the outlook of the Party members towards upholding progressive values. With party cadres raising complaints about the functioning of some of its ministers, some Do's and Don'ts for the ministers as well as MPs are understood to have been listed in the guidelines. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Share it
