Cong in no mood to sever ties with NCP in MaharashtraNew Delhi: With stakes high in Maharashtra, Congress high command is in no mood to disturb its winning alliance with NCP in the key state despite demands from a section of the party to dump the old ally.
Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, who had been advocating of going it alone in his state, yesterday said in Mumbai, "party workers are insisting to fight the state polls on their own and I am expressing their emotions." He said party workers should be given freedom to express their views before the Congress Working Committee, which is likely to call a meeting soon. However, sources in AICC said that the top leadership of the party is in favour of sticking to its decade long alliance with NCP.
