New Delhi, Oct 10 BJP today demanded speedy inquiry into accusations of money laundering against former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and sought an explanation from Congress on its decision to extend support for him for over two years in the state.

"The whole nation is aghast at the stunning revelation by the Enforcement directorate accusing Koda of amassing wealth to the tune of upto Rs 400 Crore. It is an absolute blemishment of the political system and deserves highest level of speedy inquiry and punishment," Rudy told PTI.

The Enforcement Directorate has registered a case against Koda for alleged money laundering, diversion of state funds and making huge illegal investments abroad including purchase of mines as far as in Liberia.

Rudy also sought an explanation from Congress for supporting Koda, an independent, for the post of Chief Minister.

"Congress party has to give a larger explanation as to how they were supporting such a corrupt Chief Minister for over two and a half years. How can they abdicate themselves of the onus of the crime committed by the former Chief Minister?" he asked.
