    Charlie Davies to miss 2010 Football WC after car accident

    Arlington: US striker Charlie Davies has almost ruled out of 2010 Football World Cup following deadly car accident on Tuesday morning in Virginia.

    The condition of 23-year-old, American Forward player was reported stable after several hours of surgery.

    Charlie Davies sustained multiple fractures in his right legs, elbow and injuries in face and abdomen.

    According to the doctors attending Davies at a Washington DC hospital said that his right leg was badly crushed in the accident and there were several fractures. Davies left elbow was also fractured in the accident.

    Doctors said that Davies will take more than 12 months to recapture from the injuries.

    According to the close sources, Davies will further undergo another surgery and long physiotherapy treatment.

    US Soccer Federation is hopeful that Davies will recover soon and will sure play for national team. But after the surgery report, sources said that Davies is the doubtful starter for the 2010 football World Cup in South Africa.

    The mishap occurred just a day after when US qualified for the 2010 World Cup. Davies was the part of the US team against Honduras. US qualified for World Cup with 3-2 win.
