Carcass of deer recovered from DudhwaTags: Lakhimpur Lakhimpur, Sept 1 A carcass of a deer, which was battered to death with clubs and sticks by poachers, has been recovered by the forest officials from near a pool in flood affected Dudhwa national park.
"The carcass was recovered by the officials at the Dudhwa last evening from chandanchowki during a monsoon combing exercise," Deputy Field Director P P Singh said here today. The carcass has been sent to Pallia for postmortem, Singh said. "The poachers have been identified and were reported to have fled to neighbouring Nepal," he said adding an FIR under Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, has been lodged and efforts were on to nab them. Floods in the Dudhwa have posed problem of safe shelter and food for the wild animals of the park, forest department sources said.
