Puducherry: Around 80 BJP workers were today arrested here when they staged a demonstration protesting "politicisation" of educational institutions by allowing Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi to hold an interaction with students at the Pondicheery University campus.

The workers, led by local unit president S P K Damodar, were detained near the university, hours before Gandhi's scheduled arrival, police said.

The BJP objected to letting the university for Gandhi to hold an interaction with students.
