BJP seeks Centre's say on Babli issueHyderabad: BJP Andhra Pradesh unit today demanded Centre's intervention on Maharashtra government's decision to carry out construction activities of Babli and other irrigation projects on river Godavari.
The Andhra Pradesh government had served a legal notice to Maharashtra government yesterday for going ahead with the controversial projects in defiance of the Supreme Court's interim order against them. Addressing reporters here, BJP state President Bandaru Dattatreya said, "if Maharashtra government is allowed to carry out the construction activities, the Telangana region in Andhra Pradesh will turn into a desert." The state government should try and impress upon Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in the matter, he said. The BJP leader alleged that the Rajasekhar Reddy government in the state wanted to wash its hands off the issue by serving a legal notice to Maharashtra government. "It is nothing but a negligent attitude of the state government," he said. Dattatreya said there should be no problem in resolving the issue amicably as Congress was in power at the Centre as well as in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Share it
