Dhaka: Host Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the opening match of ODI tri-nation series here today at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.

India is the third team in tournament, will play its first match against Sri Lanka on January 5, 2009.

After adjudged best Test team of the year 2009, Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh team will put good show against Sri Lankans here today.

Addressing a press conference before the match, Hassan said that his side is excited for the opening match and they will try to show their strength against islanders.

Hassan said, "The series will be an opportunity for us to prove that the we improving as a good cricketing side and we can be competitive against cricket giants."

He said that the team will try to give fight in the opening match. On the other hand Sri Lankan skipper K Sangakkara said that his side will not take Bangladesh lightly.

However, Sri Lanka have been under pressure as they lost Test and ODI series against India.
