Tags: Sibsagar

Sibsagar, Oct 13 Around 50 per cent polling was reported in two "illegal" polling booths set up by the Arunachal Pradesh authorities in Assam for today's assembly poll.

Official sources said here that two temporary "illegal" polling booths were set up at Hachirusa and Naharonibambasti in the Assam side of the border under Charaideo sub-division in Sibsagar district.

While the Hachirusa had 167 voters, Naharonibambasti had on record 87 electorates and by the time senior Assam police and civil officials of Sibsagar reached the spot, 50 per cent polling was over.

After the Assam officials raised objection the Arunachal authorities dismantled both the booths and took away the ballot boxes.
