AP govt asks officials to take measures to contain epidemicsTags: Hyderabad Hyderabad, Oct 25 The spread of dengue, chikungunya and other diseases has prompted the Andhra Pradesh government to chalk out an action plan to contain the epidemics.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah, who held a telephonic conversation with top officials directed that they should be in touch with officials in the districts every day and initiate immediate action to arrest the spread of epidemics. Rosaiah told the municipal corporations, municipalities and other local bodies to initiate special sanitation drive in their respective areas, a release from the Chief Minister's Office said. "Effective maintenance of cleanliness, periodical fogging, regular disposal of garbage and other such measures should be taken up effectively in all the areas," the release quoted Rosaiah as saying. Expressing concern about outbreak of diseases in the flood-affected areas of Kurnool, Mahabubnagar, Kadapa, Nalgonda, Krishna and Guntur districts, where water had stagnated for a long time, the Chief Minister told officials to make all out efforts to prevent spread of the diseases. Rosaiah has recently decided to include dengue in the list of diseases treated under premier Arogya Sri health scheme of the government to enable patients to get treatment at super-speciality hospitals.
