AMU to start Quranic studies centre





Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University will start a centre of Quranic studies and also create 124 teaching positions in different faculties.

AMU PRO Rahat Abrar said the university's academic council yesterday decided to create 124 teaching positions in different faculties and start a centre of Quranic studies.

The teaching posts will be Faculty of Arts, Social Science, Science, Engineering and Technology, Medicine, Unani Medicine.

An Institute of Persian studies and Prof K A Nizami centre for Quranic studies will also be opened, Abrar said.

The council also approved amendments in ordinance (Executive) for the establishment of the Directorate of school education, secondary and senior secondary schools maintained by the university.

The council has resolved for relaxation of 5 per cent (from 55 per cent to 50 per cent) of marks at master's level and 5 per cent relaxation at graduate level under the term of good Academic record' at par with SC/ST, physically and visually challenged candidates for appointment on teaching and non-teaching positions at the level of Assistant Registrar.
