Chandigarh, Nov 29: Amritsar reeled under intense cold today with the minimum temperature dropping to 4.5 degrees Celsius as the chill swept most parts of Punjab and Haryana.

The minimum at Amritsar settled three degrees below the normal range, the Meteorological Department said here.

Patiala also experienced a cold night recording a low of 6.9 degrees Celsius, two below normal. The low at Ludhiana was 9 degrees Celsius.

Cold weather conditions also prevailed in Chandigarh where the minimum dropped to 6.6 degrees Celsius, a degree below normal.

The Met has forecast mainly sunny days with not much change likely in the night temperatures.
