Amar Singh set to quit SP, likely to join NCP!New Delhi: Mulayam Singh-led Samajwadi Party's split seemed widely open today as party leader Amar Singh is all set to leave the party, sources said.
If sources are to be believed Amar Singh is likely to join Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) along with Maharashtra SP chief Abu Azmi. Amar Singh, who stepped down as SP General secretary on January 6 on health grounds, might be appointed as NCP's Uttar Pradesh Chief. The latest political equation indicates that Azmi might be inducted as a minister in Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra. However, Azmi has categorically ruled out the formula and said that he will never join Congress and NCP. On the other hand, SP supremo Mulayam Singh said that all the dispute will be resolved in the party meeting. "This is a family matter and I am sure that issue will be sorted out." In an exclusive interview with Editor-In-Chief of Samay news channel, Azmi dismissed the report and said that he and Amar Singh will jointly take the Samajwadi Party to new heights. When asked whether he will join the NCP if Amar does, he said, "Amar Singh is still strong a SP leader and is working for the interest of party under able leadership of Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav). If there are any differences it will be solved within the party." Reacting firmly on a question that he will join NCP, he said, "I am telling it thrice, Never, Never and Never…" Samay Editor-in-Chief, Sanjeev Srivastava opined that the new political equation has been indicating towards two formulas: one, new political innings for Amar Singh, another, build pressure to regain the lost powers in the party. Amar Singh tendered his resignation on Jan 6, citing health grounds. The senior SP leader said that he wanted to devote more time to his family. He also said he had no differences with SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and would never speak "a word" against him. "I have resigned on health grounds. I have to devote more time towards my responsibilities to my family. There are no difference with (party chief) Mulayam Singh," Amar Singh, who is in Dubai, told news channels. But a million dollar question is still unanswered--there is no smoke without fire". - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Share it
