Kochi,Aug3 Twentyone contestants will vie for the 'MissKerala' crown, finale of which will be held on August 5 here.

This year 34 entries were received from contestantsfrom US, Dubai, Mumbai, Bangalore and different districts inthe state for the contest, being jointly organised byImpresario Event Management and Fast Moving Consumer Goodsmajor ITC owned Vivel.

The contestants will be judged in four rounds-- DesignerSaree, Western casuals, Gown and traditional Kerala attireround, Ram Menon, Pageant Director, told reporters here.

Archana Nair, a second year student of Bio MedicalEngineering from Standford university in US, said 'being ableto represent my true heritage is a source of great pride'.

Archana, born and brought up in the US, said she hadgained confidence after having participated in few pageants inthe US and won titles like 'Miss Teen India America', and'Miss American Malayalee'.

Amalda Joseph from the hilly Wayanad district, known forits spices and coffee plantations, where many farmers hadcommitted suicide during 2001-2004 period trapped in the cycleof loan debts, is among the contestants.

Chintu Christy, a Commerce student from Thiruvananthapuram,said her strength was her confidence. Seventeen year oldMalavika Wales from Thrissur, who is a plus student, is theyoungest participant.

The winners of the contest will be adorned with a Goldencrown sponsored by a jewellery here.
